I am a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) in the State of Washington; I diagnose and treat to patients for medical conditions, including treatment with prescription medications such as antibiotics. I graduated from Bastyr University in 2006.
I accept most insurance - please call your insurance company first to verify whether I take your insurance.
I have seen the healing power of nature, in action, many times. Much of the time, the important thing is to remove the obstacles to healing - those things in our everyday lives that prevent the body from healing on it's own. This may involve supporting sleep, optimizing diet or activity patterns, or dealing with everyday stress in healthier ways. These things are simple, once you make up your mind to do them - my job is to point you in the right direction, and encourage you to make the right choices for you. Only you can take charge of your own health; this is my fundamental message.
Sometimes, a supplement, vitamin, or herb may be needed to further support your system in the healing process, or to adequately support wellness. I work with the philosophy that "less is more" - this means that I am not a naturopath who will suggest a lot of supplements, unless I feel that they are truly well-indicated for you. For example, if you have a favorite vitamin/mineral that you already take, I will look at it for you, and if it's of a reasonable quality for you, I will tell you to continue taking it. I do have a limited amount of supplements in-house, or I can set you up to purchase them on-line if you prefer, with a reputable distributor. I can look at the range of products you currently take, and help you to decide which ones are or are not necessary for you - thus helping to put dollars back in your pocket by discontinuing unnecessary supplements.
I use a variety of techniques and medicines, including lifestyle counseling, craniosacral treatments, homeopathy, herbs, and supplements. If I feel that your needs are best met by a prescription medication, I will provide you with that prescription, although such conditions are typically short-term and acute in nature, such as a bad chest cold or a urinary tract infection.
