Dr. Shruti Paskar is a naturopathic doctor completing her first-year residency at Richmond Natural Medicine under the mentorship of Leah Hollon, ND, MPH. She received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR and B.S. in Nanomedicine Engineering from the University of Virginia. During her time at NUNM, Dr. Paskar completed further training in homeopathy through the New England School of Homeopathy and the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy. Dr. Paskar also has over 300 hours of training in Ayurvedic medicine which offers an additional holistic lens backed by millennia of experience and clinical evidence.
While Dr. Paskar hopes to maintain a general focus, her clinical interests include women’s health, pre- and post-natal care, gastroenterology, and chronic conditions. She recognizes the importance of supporting a person’s mind, body, and spirit throughout the healing process. Dr. Paskar applies these fundamental principles of naturopathic medicine to her own life and personal benefits from a natural lifestyle. Her goal is to use her experience and knowledge to help others in their respective health journeys.
From Dr. Shruti Paskar:
“I did not think I would become a doctor while growing up, but I always knew I wanted to make a meaningful impact. Pursuing a degree in nanomedicine engineering, I genuinely believed innovating technologies was the answer to problems in modern medicine. I later realized discussions surrounding the effects these technologies might have on a person’s mind, body and spirit were largely absent. I felt as though engineering often divorced its creative solutions from the subjects it sought to help. After finding naturopathic medicine, I learned to appreciate and better understand the innate technologies of the human body; to respect the tools and vessel nature has provided us first. This is the philosophy I carry with me as I continue my training as a naturopathic doctor.”
“Naturopathic and Ayurvedic medicine has taught me how to cherish the human body; they brought the soul or spirit and beauty of being human into my understanding of medicine. I thought for the longest time that drugs and devices were the only answer, but natural medicine has shown me there are other, safer options worth exploring first. I have diligently engrossed myself in years of studying the core naturopathic modalities such as nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, and homeopathy, and loved every minute of it. I am devoted to sharing what I have learned as a naturopathic doctor and excited to be joining the wonderful team of doctors at Richmond Natural Medicine. I look forward to working with patients to develop plans as unique as they are and help them achieve the quality of life they desire, using the beautiful tools nature has offered all of us.”
