Robin Ritterman, ND, LAc, practices both naturopathic medicine and acupuncture, blending Eastern and Western traditions and philosophies. Her goal is to use the best from each world to provide an optimal treatment for each patient.
Dr. Ritterman has over twenty years of experience using nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy and acupuncture to treat a broad range of health concerns. Her areas of special interest include women’s health, mood disorders, acute and chronic pain, and working with people who do not feel well but have no Western medical diagnosis.
Dr. Ritterman has studied both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture techniques, including a very gentle style that is idea for those who are sensitive or frightened of needles. Her greatest strength is listening to her patients and helping them to find the appropriate path to healing. She believes in integrating natural therapies with conventional medicine and is happy to work with conventional physicians.
Dr. Ritterman earned a Bachelors of Science from The University at Albany, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in 1987. She also graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She completed a residency in naturopathic family medicine at the Portland Naturopathic Clinic in 1988 and received post-graduate training at the International Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China.
Dr. Ritterman has a special passion for teaching. Since 2001, she has been teaching at the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute, where she dedicates one day a week to supervising students in the acupuncture clinic and teaching basic acupuncture theory in the classroom. Dr. Ritterman lectures frequently at area colleges, including Yale University, Wesleyan University, Quinnipiac University and Southern Connecticut State University. She is licensed as both a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist in the state of Connecticut.
