r. Donovan is a Naturopathic Physician, author and educator. In 2010 he was voted by his professional peers as one of “Seattle’s Top Doctors” in the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.
Dr. Donovan writes and lectures on the transformational process of healing and believes a person’s healing journey is ultimately a quest for his/her identity, purpose and meaning. He has more than 40 years of patient care experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Naturopathic Physician (ND), representing a wide range of clinical settings from hospital-based surgical and intensive care as a registered nurse to outpatient primary care as a physician.
In 1985 Dr. Donovan received his doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University. He has served as a professor of clinical medicine at Bastyr University’s out-patient clinic and has been a member of Bastyr’s academic faculty. Dr. Donovan has published articles in various medical journals and has co-hosted a heath-related radio talk show for Voice America (Pair-A-Docs of Health). He has lectured for numerous professional and lay organizations on various clinical topics, and topics in healing and spirituality.
In 1996 Dr. Donovan was invited to join the medical staff of the first government funded community health clinic project integrating alternative and conventional medicine at the King County Community Health Clinic in Kent, Washington. In 1997, he was one of the first two Naturopathic Physicians invited to join the medical team of the first fully integrated oncology clinic in the Northwest, the Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center. Established by the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), this clinic integrates the full spectrum of conventional oncology care with nutritional and naturopathic medicine, and acupuncture. Dr. Donovan was also one of 23 physicians featured in Burton Goldberg’s book An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer. Dr. Donovan’s areas of clinical interest include autoimmune inflammatory disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and digestive tract disorders.
