Dr. Pamela Snider graduated from Bastyr University in Seattle Washington in 1982 and is licensed as a Naturopathic physician in Washington State. She practices in partnership with Dr. Bruce Milliman ND in their clinic, Nature Cures. She describes her practice as primary care nature cure – using the nature’s innate healing processes and capacity - to treat the whole person by restoring and optimizing health through natural medicines, natural therapies and the way we live.
Upon graduation she completed a clinical mentorship in home birth and attended hospital rounds with Dr. Gregory White, MD in Chicago Illinois. Dr. White was a pioneer in natural home birth with hospital backup She began private practice through taking over the late Dr. Robert V. Carrol Jr’s practice. in 1983 in Seattle Wa. and was fortunate to have been mentored by Dr. John Bastyr over the next three years. As a lead Clinical Supervisor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine from she practiced in rural Grimsby, Ontario (pop. 15,000 at that time) where her children were born for many years. She returned to the Seattle area in 1994; and worked across various aspects of naturopathic medicine from education to public policy in naturopathic medicine and integrative health. Dr. Snider served from 1995 - 2018 on the WA State Health Professional Loan Repayment and Scholarship Program Advisory Committee, working with other health professionals in WA State to bring primary care to rural areas and communities in need. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Naturopathic Academy of Primary Care Physicians, the Naturopathic Medicine Institute (as a Senior Vitalist) and the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. She serves on the Leadership Council of the Institute for Natural Medicine.
Dr. Snider has devoted her career to the practice and philosophy of naturopathic medicine, and to pluralistic public policy that promotes health and choice. An internationally recognized pioneer in the philosophy of naturopathic medicine and integrative health care, she serves as Executive and Senior Editor of the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine Institute (www.fnminstitute.org ), Co-Founder and past Vice Chair of the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium (IHPC); as a Board member, Founding Executive Director and co-founder of the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health (ACIH). She is Associate Professor at NUNM, and leads the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine Institute (www.fnminstitute.org )as Executive and Senior Editor – an international textbook and symposia series to codify and advance ‘the heart of naturopathic medicine.’
Former Associate Dean at Bastyr University, Dr. Snider continues in her twenty sixth year on the faculty teaching naturopathic medicine history, clinical theory, and global context. In 1986-1989, she co-led the naturopathic profession in developing a unifying definition of naturopathic medicine and its principles of practice, adopted by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). Dr. Snider has received a number of awards including AANP’s Presidents Award, AANP and Ontario, Canada’s Physician of the Year Award, The AANP William A. Mitchell Vis Award, the Bastyr University Vision Award and Distinguished Alumnus Awards, the NMSA & Naturopathic Gathering Beacon Award and an Honorary Doctorate in Naturopathic Philosophy from CCNM. Dr. Snider lives on a homestead in beautiful North Bend, Washington with her husband Dr. Bruce Milliman, their children and “The Revival.”
