Dr. Michelle Hillis is a licensed Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington. Her Doctorate is from National University of Natural Medicine (formerly NCNM). It is the oldest, fully accredited natural medical university in the U.S. She successfully completed National Board Examinations in Medical and Clinical Sciences. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Whitman College. She is director of Bear Creek Natural Medicine, and has had general family practice clinics in Redmond and Bellevue, WA. She has a busy life with her husband, their children, and dog Ollie.Dr. Hillis worked on National Institutes of Health (NIH) research which was published in the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, May 1999. She did scientific evaluation of medical therapies and reviewed medical literature on treatments in HIV/AIDS at the Bastyr University AIDS Research Center, established in 1994 as part of a 3-yr cooperative grant with the NIH and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The mission of the research was to screen treatments of HIV disease for efficacy. She was part of a research group that included the principal investigator of the study, Leanna J. Standish, ND.
She has done research at University of Washington, in the School of Public Health at the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) and worked in Pulmonary & Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center, and the Kidney Transplant Center at UW Medical Center. Her research job was to review side effects of several prescription drugs.
She has been a Grand Rounds Speaker at National University of Natural Medicine and and served as Co-VP of Community on the PTSA Executive Committee in her school district.
She feels that it is crucial for patients to make informed choices about treating health concerns.
