Dr. McKenzie Mescon is a naturopathic doctor practicing in both Montana and in Massachusetts. She was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts; a Boston girl who loved sports, playing outside, and reading fantasy stories.
In the years before medical school, Dr. Mescon (or Dr. Mack, as some patients like to call her) earned a B.S. in Biology and Non-Fiction Writing from St. Lawrence University where she also met her husband, Hanzi. After college, she and Hanzi, moved to the American West where they learned about the vastness of America, with its variety of people and terrain. Naturopathic medicine found Dr. Mescon during the course of these adventures, first in an undergrad course, later when living in Seattle, and again when living in Northern California. Inspired by her experiences as well as by her mother (a dermatologist, nutritionist and certified functional medicine practitioner,) Dr. Mescon left her life in the mountains to pursue a doctorate in naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Mescon loved naturopathic medical school, and took the fast-track program at the National University of Health Sciences in Chicagoland. After 3 years and 4 months of hard work, she graduated summa cum laude and salutatorian of her class on Earth Day in 2016.
Throughout medical school Dr. Mescon kept the intention that she would head back to America’s Mountain West, and was thrilled to match with a residency at Spring Integrative Health in Bozeman, Montana. After completing her residency in Primary Care and General Practice, she has continued to practice naturopathic primary care with a special focus in thyroid disorders, GI disorders, men’s and women’s health, autoimmune disease, and dermatology.
As a doctor, Dr. Mescon is passionate about delivering patient-centered, naturally-focused medical care to her community. Her goal is to help her patients integrate mindful, individualized healthcare into their current modern lifestyle. Treatment often involves a combination of conventional, functional, and naturopathic therapies. Dr. Mescon will happily consult and coordinate care for her patients with their other providers, near or far.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Mescon can be found outside hiking, skiing, and trail-running, or playing hockey with her local Bozone Brewing team. She likes to create by baking, doing yoga, scouring the thrift store, and fixing things. She enjoys a good conversation, a beautiful pair of leather boots, an engaging novel or mystery book, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Mescon truly loves her work as a naturopathic, functional physician. The practice of combining natural therapies and traditional healing wisdom with the latest medical knowledge and research to bring about lasting health for her patients is rewarding beyond measure.
