Dr. Lawler graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo , CA with a BS in Anatomy and Physiology in 1995. During her time as a student and following graduation she worked as a research associate and staff scientist studying protein biochemistry and prostate and breast cancer. It was during this time that she developed friendships with visiting scientists trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She developed a fascination and love for Chinese and Natural Medicine which ultimately redirected her life course. She enrolled in the challenging dual degree program at Bastyr University and received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2004.
After graduation, Dr. Lawler set up practice in Snohomish. After growing up in a large metropolitan area like San Diego, the “neighborhood” of Snohomish was extremely appealing. Dr. Lawler has been very active in public education as well as the education of future healthcare providers. She has lectured at multiple venues including Evergreen Hospital, YMCA cancer survivorship programs & Children’s hospital. She has served on the faculty of Denton Massage School and Middle Way Acupuncture Institute. Dr. Lawler completed clinical rotations in several integrative medical settings including Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center specializing in pain management and chronic fatigue outpatient clinics.
Dr. Lawler is a specialist in adrenal fatigue and natural treatment of anxiety and depression. She has a special interest in autoimmune disorders, women’s health issues including menopause, endometriosis, menstrual irregularities and natural hormone balancing and replacement using lifestyle, nutrition and herbal (Chinese and western) medicine. Dr. Lawler is married with a teenage daughter. She is passionate about seeing the world and is always looking for the next road to travel, paved or not. She loves being in the mountains, hiking with her border collie Bella, her stand up paddleboard, yoga, snorkeling with turtles and laughing with her patients. She feels blessed everyday to come to work.
