Pura Vida Natural Medicine
Dr. Hebert is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in both California and Washington with a primary focus at Pura Vida Natural Medicine on hormone and digestive health for the Highly Sensitive Person. She is committed to creating a collaborative relationship in order to empower your health and wellness goals.
She understands that optimal health is rooted in high quality sleep, diet, exercise, relationships and work-life balance. Yet, bringing them back into harmony is not always easy. Dr. Hebert, therefore, integrates health and life coaching, in addition to medical knowledge, to help you develop a step by step plan that helps you achieve your health goals.
When Dr. Hebert was 17, she spent a summer in the Dominican Republic and then arrived back to her home in California with a mysterious illness. After her conventional doctor ran some tests, which did not reveal any imbalance, she was sent home without a diagnosis or treatment. She nevertheless knew that something was very much amiss and she still felt completely different than how she had prior to her trip. This was the experience that sparked her interest in exploring different kinds of medicine in the hopes of identifying and resolving her health problems. From her experience, she developed a personal awareness that the patient is often in the best position to understand when something is wrong even when the provider they are seeing cannot or will not acknowledge the legitimacy of the patient’s health needs and concerns. She openly welcomes your feedback in every visit, and always seeks to fully understand your unique experience and find the healing system and plan that will support you best.
Dr. Hebert has personal and professional experience on how healing your digestion improves your mental and emotional well-being — what we call the gut-brain connection. It is amazing how issues that are most commonly regarded as psychological can sometimes resolve completely when a nutrient deficiency is addressed, the microbiome is balanced, and hormones and metabolism are well-regulated in the body. She has helped many patients optimize their gut health in order to balance their moods, enhance their focus, and achieve a greater sense of well-being. Dr. Hebert is excited to do the same for you as part of the Pura Vida Natural Medicine team.
Dr. Hebert has studied principles from a broad range of medical paradigms from all around the world including western conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine and others. She respects them all. Her favorite symbol for how to hold the differing viewpoints is a story of three blind men standing at different parts of an elephant—a leg, the trunk, the tail—and describing to each other what an elephant is. Each are right in their description, yet each description is an incomplete picture of the full elephant. Based on that perspective, Dr. Hebert highly values collaboration between practitioners and actively continues to hone her skills as an interpreter and communicator between paradigms.
At Pura Vida Natural Medicine, we all respect the strengths and limitations of different models of medicine, and we are experts at working with highly sensitive people and connecting them to the resources and tools they need for healing. Whether you work with one practitioner or more at Pura Vida Natural Medicine, you will benefit from a wonderful collaboration between Dr. Lamb, Dr. Amin, and Dr. Hebert. We look forward to hearing your full story and supporting you in achieving your best health on every level—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
