Elisha grew up in Los Angeles with a longstanding love for the California sunshine. As a child, she felt an immediate connection with the ocean and remembers spending many blissful days playing on the beach. An outdoor enthusiast with an enduring love for the sea, Elisha pursued her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. As fate would have it, during that time, Elisha developed a chronic sinus condition. Despite trying several medications and undergoing surgery, the frustrating ailment persisted. Eventually, the condition interfered with Elisha’s ability to scuba dive, which was an integral part of her intended career path. Elisha opted to change her major to Environmental Studies and was motivated to begin a lifelong pursuit of exploring various types of medicine, partially in an effort to heal from her own ailments.
Elisha’s college experience culminated with a year spent abroad in South Africa, a truly life altering endeavor. The cultural richness and profound beauty of the country deeply impacted her. While in South Africa, Elisha was fascinated by the practices of a local indigenous healer known as a Sangoma. This experience further broadened Elisha’s perspective to the idea that there were many different dimensions to health and healing.
After college, Elisha had the opportunity to move to New York City, a dramatic departure from her life in California. In New York Elisha began an in depth exploration of different traditions of holistic healing. She pursued studies in holistic nutrition, polarity therapy, reiki, yoga, and herbal medicine. Elisha’s exploration into health and healing quickly became her life’s passion. The field of Naturopathic Medicine presented itself as the perfect path to continuing her learning about holistic health while receiving rigorous medical training. This journey led Elisha to Bastyr University, a leader in the field of science based natural medicine, to complete her degree in Naturopathic Medicine. In addition to being a Naturopathic Doctor, Elisha concurrently pursued a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is also a licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. She finds that Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are particularly effective at helping patients deal with chronic stress, musculoskeletal pain, hormonal and mood imbalances, digestive disorders and other conditions. Elisha is currently devoting all of her clinic time to her acupuncture practice at NaturoMedica.
Elisha is passionate about supporting her patients’ individual journeys to optimal health. She believes that the human body has the innate ability to heal itself when given the opportunity. Elisha sees herself working in partnership with her patients, helping them create the right conditions to begin their own healing process.
Elisha lives in Renton with her husband, Jefferson and young daughter, Luna. Elisha is vested in teaching Luna about healthy living from an early age. In her free time, Elisha can be found spending time with her family out in nature, going to see live music and travelling to sunny beach destinations as frequently as possible.
