My inSpiration began with an inner "knowing" around the age of 11. I remember clearly stating that I wanted to become a doctor without any of the typical deviations in vocation for a child of that age. A "heart doctor" or "brain surgeon" I would say. I now realize that practicing naturopathic medicine is very much like becoming a "heart doctor" AND "brain surgeon" all in one. As I find myself in the current healthcare situation, I am called even stronger to be of service and on a much grander scale.
I imagine healing communities that inspire and completely embody a reduced toxin and healthy lifestyle, eco-friendly housing and living practices, community food preparation with conscious meal sharing, bubbling creativity and all types of healing arts alongside song and dance. Of course, surrounded by nature and especially near a salty ocean available for a cleansing and healing swim at anytime.
I spent much of my childhood playing sports and watching my grandfather who was both an osteopathic physician and a chiropractic doctor caring for his patients. My grandmother worked as an activities director in convalescent hospitals and knew how to bring the laughter, joy and FUN. My parents have both gifted me life, my name, musicality, and athleticism. I chose well and I thank them Hawaiian style...MaHalo Nui Loa.
Just a few years ago, I followed another calling which now feels like it came from the heart and not the head. I took a two year sabbatical from medicine and began painting in the abstract. Not trying to do anything isn't exactly easy (for the perfectionist type personality) but my creative process has become a metaphor for living. I listen and then respond in the moment. At times I get completely out of my head, trust and just do.
I consider myself a visionary artist who creates in flow. I facilliate a creative experience for groups called FluxxUashioN. As you can see it's FUN. Water is the most important medium for this work. I use vibrant and fluorescent rainbow colors and phosphorescent paint which glows in total darkness. I took a picture of glowing coral in a tank that you can see on my home page. One can also see glowing coral while snorkling. Several mushrooms, crystal stones and most likely many other things glow both in plain site and under UV lighting situations.
I’m blessed with an amazing, confident and gorgeous daugher and have recently become a grandmother to a radiant beauty. I live both in Seattle with my husband and on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have traveled to a few different countries. Greece, Australia, and India were amongst my favorites. I play volleyball, tennis and love dancing. I’m also an avid reader, love to shop at thrift stores and packing my bags!!!
I absolutely love everything about the ocean and try to swim as much possible. Spending time in nature and caturing it's mysteries (in form) as a picture is one of my favorite things to do. I then use all those fancy filters and search around for images that stand out to my eye. I aspire to create poetry performances with the poems that have been coming through. AloHa and Mahalo for taking the time to read..
