Rooted In Health
Growing up, my great grandfather always told me, "health comes from the food on your plate and the earth it was grown in." My mother taught me that health is about the company you keep and the relationships you build. My father taught me to take care of my body and mind through exercise and spirituality. I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and gained a great appreciation for all the health benefits our natural world has to offer. With these influences combined, it was a natural choice to pursue a career in Naturopathic Medicine.
I received my Bachelors in Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish Language from Central Washington University in 2006. While pursuing this degree, I learned that much of our health is rooted in nutrition and movement. In 2017, I graduated from Bastyr University with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, with a strong focus on endocrine disorders, autoimmune conditions, women's health, gastrointestinal disorders, pediatric health, and postpartum wellness. While attending Bastyr, I treated hundreds of patients with a team at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health and preceptored with general practitioners and pediatricians.
When I’m not in the office working with patients or researching how to create their road map to optimal health , I am out hiking in nature with my husband and daughter or at an easel with a paint brush and a large canvas. You will also find me in the garden planting seeds and pulling fruits and vegetables for the table. I have a great passion for health, nutrition, the great outdoors, as well as art and love to share these experiences with those around me.
I am active in the Bellingham women’s community and support small businesses and women-powered businesses in Bellingham and the surrounding region. Check my blog for additional businesses that I support in our area.
My husband and I share a vision for a natural place in Whatcom County that is dedicated to teaching and well-being. While this dream is in-between the vision process and the planning process right now, stay tuned to see how our future Wellness Retreat comes into fruition!
