Description

As a naturopathic doctor, Barbara Vaelli believes in the inherent healing capacity of the body and helps identify and remove any obstacles to this process. By discovering and treating the cause of your health concerns and not merely masking the symptoms, Dr. Vaelli helps clients achieve optimal wellness.

Dr. Vaelli is a proud member of the Colorado, Washington and national Naturopathic Doctors Associations and the Colorado and national Acupuncture Associations. She holds naturopathic medical licenses in Colorado and Washington and an acupuncture license in Colorado. She graduated from Bastyr University of Naturopathic Medicine, a four-year, post-graduate medical program located in Seattle, Washington. She received both her doctorate in naturopathic medicine and her masters in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in 1999 and was at that time and is currently nationally certified in both professions. Prior to medical school, she completed her undergraduate studies in International Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder and her pre-med studies at Oakton College in Chicago. She has, in addition, studied and taught many other healing modalities including but not limited to various indigenous healing practices, meditation, yoga, medical intuition, qi gong, tai qi, and many types of bodywork including cranio-sacral, shiatsu, tui na and reiki. Her life has been a persistent journey of seeking out modalities of health and balance - physically/mentally-emotionally/spiritually - and assisting others to do the same.

Early in her career, Dr. Vaelli worked at the North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea on the Big Island, Hawaii. She was a consulting staff member at NHCH, working closely with other doctors to integrate western and complimentary medical systems within a hospital setting. She served on the pharmacy board introducing research on efficacy and safety of botanical medicines, getting them approved for use at the hospital pharmacy. She spearheaded and completed the project of constructing and implementing an integrative acupuncture clinic for pain management in the hospital's physical therapy department. She also worked at Lokahi Health Center, a natural health clinic in Kailua Kona.

She founded the Longmont Healing Arts Clinic in Longmont, Colorado in 2002 and currently offers integrative medicine, serving her community with naturopathic and Chinese medicine, including botanical medicine, medical nutrition, different types of bodywork such as acupuncture and cranio-sacral, conventional and specialized laboratory testing and wellness counseling.
