A curiosity to understand how things work, and why they often do not, eventually led me to naturopathic medical school. There, I learned how to address the root cause of a patient’s concerns, like a medical detective.
Before naturopathic medical school, I completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in chemistry and biochemistry, and was involved in biochemistry research. This expanded my knowledge of our body’s diverse biochemistry and physiology, and I became interested in the balance of how to treat and address the whole person. I received my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, and currently, I hold licenses to practice naturopathic medicine in Kansas, Washington, and Montana.
Prior to moving to Kansas City, I practiced in Washington. I also graduated from a two-year accredited residency in naturopathic primary care, completed in Montana. My training has provided me diverse experience in managing disease, with and without pharmaceuticals, and optimizing disease prevention including recommended screenings. I have gained advanced training in women’s health, cardiovascular disease and diabetes care, problem-solved digestive dysfunction, and chronic disease while developing a love of primary care and preventative medicine. Additionally, I have completed courses in visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapies. I have learned so much from my patients and I enjoy teaching and working with them in achieving their optimal health.
It turns out, we are what we eat! Learning more about food, nutrition, and the culture around food has become a passion of mine. I enjoy integrating what I learn into my life and love sharing knowledge and experiences. Through many modalities and evidence based medical training, I enjoy collaborating with patients and their healthcare team, while educating about physiologic and biochemical function leading to long lasting health benefits.
Being born and raised in Kansas, I am happy to return, practice the type of medicine I love, and spend more time with my family.
