Dr. Andrea Patin, ND, CG (ASCP) received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor Degree in Business Administration. During her time at Texas A&M University- she had extensive clinical rotations in the OB/GYN offsite clinic, now called Baylor Scott & White Medical Clinic in College Station, TX. She was a two- time selected recipient of a summer mentorship program in Pediatric Cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College Of Medicine. The mentorship covered clinical rotations at each of these hospitals and an offsite clinics associated with these medical institutions. She interned in the subspecialty areas of Congenital Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congential Cardiology as well witnessing procedures and unique surgeries working under the Chief Of Pediatric Cardiology. In her mentorship she also wrote a paper of Dr. Vivien Thomas, the internationally recognized African American assistant to Dr. Alfred Blalock, who created the first successful BT shunt.
During the writing of her paper she was able to interview Dr. Denton Cooley, the first American cardiothoracic surgeon to successfully perform a heart transplant. This interview was the highlight of her internship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cooley was extremely encouraging to her pursuit of medicine and knew she would become a successful physician.
Due to her close association with cardiac medical conditions personally and through her family, she really enjoyed her clinical rotations at the Texas Medical Center. However, she felt there were more options available than just conventional medicine. Therefore, she started working in the medical field in the areas of pharmaceutical research and cytogenetics, respectively. She received her certification in cytogenetics (CG) as a cytogenetic technologist. Cytogenetics is the study of human chromosomes from samples of blood, cancer tissue, Chorionic villi sampling (CVS), amino fluid samples to diagnose any chromosomal defects and genetic abnormalities.
After a few years of working in the medical field, she discovered the world of Naturopathic Medicine and embarked on her journey.
While in medical school she continued her women’s health and cardiology rotations with some true pioneers in Integrative Medicine – NDs, MDs and DOs. Due to her relationship with Texas Children’s Hospital she able to continue clinical rotations at TCH, St. Luke’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. She also became active as a member in many school associations, academic and social, while also working as a T. A. in Anatomy Lab and a tutor in basic sciences at her school. She had interest in legislative advocacy for Naturopathic Medicine and participated in lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. Her last two years of medical school, she was selected as a student nutraceutical sales representative for Priority One Supplements, Inc. Dr Patin, was also selected to a private rotation of Gaia Herbs, Inc. in Brevard, North Carolina with famed herbalist and enabling founder, Ric Scalzo, to learn more on botanical medicine and the proper manufacturing process of plants for supplementation use. She was also selected to an additional botanical rotation with the renowned herbalist, Peter Bigfoot, at Reevis Mountain school and obtained her certificate from his program.
Her education at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine allowed her to become extremely knowledgeable in leadership, legislation efforts, quality supplement manufacturing processes and of course Naturopathic Medicine.
She obtained her Doctorate Degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine an accredited four-year Naturopathic medical school in Tempe, Arizona in 2012. She is a California licensed Naturopathic Doctor and is medically trained as a primary care doctor.
Dr. Patin, currently sees patients in Valley Village, California at Majestic Natural Health focusing on hormonal health in women; correcting female conditions of all types- dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), uterine fibroids, endometriosis, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Graves, menopausal transitioning, adenomyosis, pre/post hysterectomy care, post breast augmentation care, post removal of breast augmentation, hair loss/hair thinning, vaginitis, UTIs, Interstitial Cystitis, sexually trasmitted infections, HPV, Herpes Simplex I/II, premature graying of hair and healthy aging.
However, after several years in practice- patient referrals allow her to extend care to all types of wonderful people! Dr. Patin is so passionate about transforming the lives of her patients through the vitalistic approach of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Patin continues to serve patients in the Houston area by remote consultations.
She is a proud and active member of Texas Association of Naturopathic Doctors (TXAND), California Naturopathic Association, Naturopathic Medicine Institute (NMI), American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), and American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Dr. Patin held an executive board position on The Texas Association of Naturopathic Doctors (TXAND) and enjoys advocating for the licensure of Naturopathic Doctors in the state of Texas.
