Hi, I’m Dr Allison Egan! I am a Naturopathic Physician. My practice focuses on pain management through the use of physical medicine and regenerative injection therapies (e.g., prolotherapy, trigger point therapy, perineural therapy). I am currently seeing patients at Gaia Med, PLLC in NE Seattle.
My intention as a practitioner is to build a partnership with my patients to empower them and help develop awareness to their own physical bodies. I aim to support healing and optimize function through creating lifestyle balance (e.g., movement, diet, supplementation).
I believe strongly in a holistic approach to medicine; I provide individualized patient centered care by integrating nutritional and lifestyle counseling, herbal medicine, and physical medicine at each visit. Patient education is the backbone of my practice; I enjoy not only teaching my patients about their bodies, and how they function, but also how simple lifestyle changes can result in more effective and lasting treatments, and the prevention of disease.
Understanding the role physical activity and nutrition can play in disease processes has always been a strong interest of mine. I have been a lifelong athlete and adventurer, competing as a Division I athlete in women’s rowing in undergrad and a wilderness guide before Naturopathic Medical school. Ultimately my passion for movement fueled my desire to learn more about the root cause of disease and prevention, and ultimately led me to pursue Naturopathic Medicine.
I earned my doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), in Portland Oregon. Prior to my naturopathic medical training I received my bachelor of science from Oregon State University in exercise and sport science.
My passion for movement and the musculoskeletal system led me to pursue an integrative rheumatology residency post Naturopathic Medical school. I worked in a supporting role to thousands of musculoskeletal and autoimmune patients at Arthritis care, PC. This dual residency also allowed me time to work alongside and shadow Dr Nicholas Morgan at The Center for Integrative Medicine. Through this integrative experience I was constantly reminded that the efficacy of Naturopathic Medicine is deeply rooted in the relationship we build with our patients, a little biochemistry research, and sometimes in the simplest of treatments.
A physicians education is never complete, since finishing my formal eduction I have focused my clinical interest towards regenerative injection therapies (RIT). After practicing trigger point injection therapy for several years, and seeing great success, I am starting to offer more RIT. I invested into a mentorship with Dr Tyna Moore, a regenerative injection specialist, to learn her painless injection techniques and protocols for prolotherapy. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in the years to come to offer more regenerative injection therapies.
Outside of medicine I have a passion for nature and the environment, I spend as much of my free time outside as possible. As an avid hiker, downhill skier, sailor, and cyclist I love exploring new areas and returning to old favorites alike. I also enjoy delving into my creative side through an assortment of DIY crafting projects like sewing, crocheting, painting, gardening, and jewelry making.
